Gault&Millau's review 2026

In Kut, on the southeast side of the Bay of Vis, on a beautiful square by the sea, under the canopy of large palm trees, the Val 2.0 restaurant offers modern Dalmatian cuisine, combining contemporary techniques with local ingredients and rich Mediterranean scents and flavours. The menu is sophisticated and hearty at the same time, not large but carefully designed to satisfy different tastes. It includes tuna tartare or tataki, cheese selections, fish carpaccio, soups, risottos and pastas, and main meat and fish dishes such as octopus under the peka (baking bell), fish fillets, lobster and monkfish. We tried the fish carpaccio, lightly marinated in olive oil and lemon, with the addition of creamy yogurt and aromatic basil, which gives the dish freshness and Mediterranean charm. For the main course we had scampi and a John Dory on the grill, carefully roasted, fresh and fragrant with the taste of recognizable Mediterranean aromas that celebrate simplicity and sea notes. The desserts are beautifully served and a great way to round off the meal. The wine list is coordinated with the dishes and includes carefully selected labels of Dalmatian, Istrian and Slavonian wines, with a special emphasis on local varieties that go particularly well with seafood and meat specialties. The elegant terrace by the sea and the pleasant, relaxed, yet refined ambiance further enhance the gastronomic experience. This year Val 2 has deserved two Gault&Millau toques. It is worth to visit them. Book your table in advance.
