Gault&Millau's review 2026

Vidrovača is a magical tavern on the Krka River, across from the town of Skradin, accessible only by sea. You can arrive by your own boat or, by arrangement, use their dinghy that will pick you up at the Skradin marina. The restaurant’s owners, the Petrović family, have been running the restaurant for years. With its beautiful natural setting and high-quality food Vidrovača attracts the yachtsmen and the other visitors that come to Skradin. A wooden pontoon leads to a covered area with a bar, while the tables are set along the beach. Here you can literally eat with your feet in the sea, or at least enjoy a glass of chilled sparkling wine until lunch is served. Be sure to order čokalice, the delicious fried smelt that owe their special taste to the brackish, sweet-salty water of the Prokljan Lake . They are so delicious that you can’t stop eating them. The grilled sea bass was also excellent, with a finely roasted, almost crispy skin, while the inside remained juicy. The traditional Dalmatian side dish of Swiss chard always goes well with grilled fish. You can also get first-class grilled cuts of meat, from steak and rump steak to rib eye and T-bone steak with a side of baked potatoes. The wine selection is good, with mostly regional labels. The personnel are friendly and relaxed, in keeping with the ambiance. Vidrovača is everything you want for a summer vacation by the sea.
