Gault&Millau's review 2026

Vila Velebita is one of the few restaurants on the island of Silba, located near the church, in the centre of the town. They proudly point out that the family restaurant has been successfully operating since 1991 and that their guests return every summer. These are mostly foreign or domestic tourists who spend their summers on Silba or sailors passing through on a cruise around the Dalmatian islands. A favourite place for the lovers of Dalmatian cuisine and fresh ingredients, it offers a relaxed and warm atmosphere. The Lovrović family successfully combines tradition and simplicity in their menu, with an emphasis on local recipes and seasonal ingredients. The stuffed squid under the peka (the baking bell), the octopus with potatoes and the tender lamb under the peka are delicous. To start you can choose the homemade Dalmatian prosciutto and cheese or the bruschetta with tomato and cheese. The wine list is modest with local wines that go perfectly with local dishes. The friendly personnel further contribute to the pleasant experience. Don’t expect luxury or innovative culinary techniques, as Vila Velebita is a tavern that offers traditional, local food. During the season, reservations are recommended.
