Gault&Millau's review 2026

The Braje family estate lies in the heart of the Plešivica - Okić wine-growing region, surrounded by beautiful unspoiled nature. Upon arrival at the traditional wooden house, the hosts will welcome you with one of their homemade fruit brandies (raspberry or pear) followed by an explanation of the day’s offerings. In the kitchen, the Braje couple primarily uses their own produce, and when supplies run low, they source ingredients from nearby producers. In any case, the recommendation is to begin your meal traditionally, with a platter of cured meats and spreads that leaves no one indifferent. Everything served - from ham, bacon, sausage, and pâté to cheese and cream is of high quality. The main dishes belong to traditional cuisine, elevated here to a higher level. These include duck with mlinci (traditional baked flatbread), beef cheeks, Plešivica copanjak, sous-vide pork tenderloin with barley porridge and mushroom sauce, and the house specialty - confit duck leg and thigh with mlinci and wine sauce. Desserts such as strudels and dumplings are also traditional, but thanks to high-quality homemade ingredients, they offer a completely different depth of flavour. The restaurant serves its own wines, which pair beautifully with the dishes.
