Gault&Millau's review 2026

In the gentle plains between Papuk and the Drava River, about 4 kilometres from Slatina, lies Hotel and Restaurant Višnjica. This former noble estate once bred Arabian horses, a few of which can still be seen today, as horseback riding is part of the activities offered on the property. The gastronomic offerings are available both in the hotel restaurant and in tavern Kotač, a separate venue ideal for day visits. The meat menu is classic – featuring all kinds of roasts and excellent steaks – but seasonal dishes add extra charm, such as hearty vegetable soups or sweet potato cremeschnitte with chocolate topping. The pasta is homemade from spelt flour, and most ingredients come from the estate itself or nearby local farms. House specialties include venison fillet in a forest fruit sauce with sweet potato gnocchi, as well as a very tasty turkey fillet in mushroom sauce served with green noodles. Guests are delighted enjoy the meals on the terrace to the sound of birdsong in good weather, or indoors by the warm glow of an open fireplace when it’s cold. Višnjica is perfect for family weekends, team-building events, and various celebrations, as the hall in the hotel can accommodate up to three hundred guests.
