Gault&Millau's review 2026

A charming fish restaurant on lively Martićeva Street is ideal for enjoying seafood. The street terrace is not large, so it fills up quickly, everything is somewhat cramped inside, but the atmosphere is extremely pleasant, mostly due to the helpful, cheerful waiters. But when freshly baked homemade bread dyed with cuttlefish ink, a ball of creamy white cod pâté and fine olive oil arrive at the table, the mood rises even more. If fried smelt and prawns served with arugula are on offer, don’t miss them because their taste is full of the aroma of the sea. We also recommend a small appetizer - two Adriatic scallops (they are smaller than imported ones) lightly seared, served with lemon slices. The fish soup is rich in flavour, among the best in the city, and the waiter will show you the daily catch of the fish on a platter. They bake it expertly, clean it of the bones and serve it with a classic Dalmatian side dish - Swiss chard with boiled potatoes. A true luxury in its simplicity! The menu also includes traditional black cuttlefish risotto and risottos with scampi or prawns, attractive black ravioli stuffed with prawns in a Mediterranean herb sauce, and a rich selection of meat dishes. Just when you think you should skip the dessert and resist the honey and almond cakes, or the rožata (sort of crème caramel), the waiter surprises you with hot sweet fritters sprinkled with powdered sugar. All of this contributes to a nice gastronomic experience that you will want to repeat.
