Winery presentation by Gault&Millau
Although they both come from families with a long winemaking tradition, Miroslav Slaviček and his wife Ivona decided to do everything differently at their Chresno winery – from the location of the vineyard to the selected grape varieties. Ten years ago, they returned from Zagreb to Pitomača and planted an organic vineyard with 17.000 vines on two hectares of inherited land and another two hectares of purchased land. This is a location where no vines have ever been planted, in Mala Črešnjevica - whose medieval name is Chresno - near the highest peak of Bilogora. Their not-so-easy business path, which led them to make their dream come true, is evidenced by the hill and shovel on the winery’s logo. Their varieties are Gewürztraminer, Muscat Yellow and White, Rhine Riesling, Silvaner, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and four hybrid varieties - Solaris, Muscaris, Cabernet Blanc and Cabernet Cortis. They produce 14 labels in the cellar of Miroslav’s father in Aršanj, and they are included in the wine lists of the restaurant Zlatni klas in Otrovanec, the restaurant Brick in Virovitica and the castle and manor Janković.
