Winery presentation by Gault&Millau
Lajoš Kolar, the owner of a winery and restaurant in Suza, comes from a family that has been cultivating and nurturing the finest grape varieties for generations. Their 12.5 hectares of vineyards stretch at the foot of the Baranja Mountain and from these vines he obtains Graševina, Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Frankovka, Cabernet Sauvignon and Green Silvaner, awarded by a silver medal at Decanter in 2017. All wines are nurtured in a gator that his ancestors dug a hundred years ago in a steep wall on the ridges of southern Baranja. His wife, two daughters and sons-in-law help him in his business, and they produce 60 thousand liters of wine annually. A tasting room on their estate is available for a smaller number of guests, while tastings for larger groups are organized in the basement of the family restaurant. Bread, lard and ground paprika are served with the wine, and, if desired, homemade specialties and pastries. They prepare all the dishes themselves, even in the restaurant, which can accommodate seventy people. The menu is agreed in advance, and to make the service complete, accommodation is possible in high-category rooms, as well as in the “Suza Baranje” campsite - spacious enough for thirty tents and two caravans.
