Winery presentation by Gault&Millau
In Osijek many people remember Slavko Kalazić as an excellent electro technician who repaired their televisions sets and recorded videos. But wine lovers prefer him as the owner of the family winery in Zmajevac, whose wines have so far been awarded more than a hundred medals, including Decanters for his Graševina and his Rhine Riesling. Since 2014, Kalazić wines have been eco-certified. He began his wine story in 2004 when he planted half of the vineyards, followed in 2005 by the second half. Today he has 18 hectares of vineyards stretching from Zmajevac to Batina. He picks the grapes of 120.000 vines exclusively by hand. He is a fan of the tradition, but he does not shy away from technological innovations. The winery is known for two lines. The Silver Line consists of elegant, intense and rich wines made from Graševina, Chardonnay, Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon, Traminer and Pinot Gris, while the refined Premium Line wines are made from carefully selected clusters of Chardonnay, Traminer (Selected harvest), Graševina (Selected harvest), Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. All of them can be tasted at the winery with expert guidance. You can book the wine tasting together with Baranja food specialties which somehow make the wine more drinkable.
