Winery presentation by Gault&Millau
The scent of wild pears and vineyard peaches make the top-quality Kutjevo Graševina recognizable and special - said Branko Mihalj, a dentist from Kutjevo and a top expert of this variety that he raised to a wine pedestal during his lifetime. Winemaking was his hobby, love and passion, and as he strived for perfection, he preferred green harvests in order to obtain the highest quality. His Graševina was not aged in wooden barrels, but in stainless steel barrels, and for a year longer than other winemakers, thus gaining complexity. The 2008 harvest was particularly successful for him. The quality of his wine was recognized by Decanter. Just as he continued in the footsteps of his father Ivan, who came to Kutjevo from Herzegovina in 1953 and bought two hectares of vineyards on Mačevo brdo, his sons Hrvoje and Branimir continue his path. Their slightly more than five hectares of vineyards produce annually 10.000 bottles of top-quality Graševina. But but they also produce Traminer, Rhine Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Portuguese blue and Muscat Rosé. The winery and tasting room are located in the family home in Kutjevo.
